Ohhhh look at that, 10.06% completed WHOOP!8m really not too far away from  page finish and should start in on the Guinea Pig.  Please note no actual Guinea will be harmed LOL.

Good news for you lovely people, as there have been a lot of dark colours to this point.

Stitches left to complete 49,648.

#403 - Contemporary Cross - Custard Cream Dream Mini - 8.64% completed

Stitching totals each day have been down, but after a checkup with the medics today, and some more meds, I feel a little better today,  Stitching is easier when not hyped up on pain meds.

That having been said I had a health and safety issue when I mistook the Olbas nasel decongestant squirt bottle for olive oil ear drops!!!! What a fool.

Thank you so much for coming over to my blog, it is really appreciated.  In fact you might like to keep a keen eye out, as I think I will celebrate (in the not too distant future) with a thank you giveaway for one of my readers.  As Contemporary Cross now do to gift vouchers, I will purchase one for the winner in a random draw.  More details of when and how to participate.

Note the blue highlight above, and then you will know that what follows is not be trying to appear smart … and is probably old news to many, but I was ticked to read about PKs castellated edge, and how to achieve it.  So what follows below is pretty much a reminder for me, as I will likely forget how to achieve it.

Go to the gear settings icon and then select Diagonal Lines and turn on both Lower Left and Lower Left and Spacing between to 20, and a colour that suits. I like it different to my page breaks.

that

I would love to give credit to the person that mentioned it, but sadly cannot remember if it was on Social Media or Flosstube on YT.  I do apologise to them.

#402 - Custard Cream Dream Mini 7.64% completed

That’s the allotted seven days, and I have averaged 1% a day, which is decent.

I’m not going to switch out though, as I just need to keep things simple because I am still a bit poorly.

Not sure if I mentioned this,  ut I beat the number of stitches completed in 2021 of 158,452 and I am looking forward to seeing the end of year fire for 2022.

#401 - Custard Cream Dream Mini - 4.36% completed

2,404 stitches since starting this on Sunday, really good progress and a dream to stitch.

This, however is a bit of a nightmare … it’s making my thumb ache.

Can you tell what it is yet?

#400 - New Mis-start and Re-start - Custard Cream Dream Mini - 0.88% completed

The result of the two tent stitch mis-starts, after Mr Frog came for the afternoon.

I’ve put the end result at the top to stop triggering anyone's amphibious nightmares.

If I ever tell any of you I intend to do tent stitch again, you have me permission to take you WIPs into protective custody, or in this case Custardy.

Tried it one way, then the other, and hated the results, and went back to full cross.  Although, jeopardy is a thing in my world and I’ve switched the x around to bottom left to top right/ bottom right to top left.  I caught myself a couple of times stitching my usual bottom right to top left/bottom left to top right though.  Reason?  I love a lasso start and the tiny tail is backwards and upside down so does not get caught in or lay properly on the reverse.  I used to stitch bottom left to top right and switched years ago, so I am going back to old school.

I’m still working rebel #RoyalRows, but to keep it neat, or try to for as long as possible/le working down in a staggered diagonal and across for full width of pattern tower completions.

Anyhoo, it turns out I am full x all the way baby, and pretty darn fast as it .... so no worries, be happy

#399 - HAED Mini Aquarius - 43.83% completed

End of Rotation C 21 day slot, and a good amount achieved.  However, I was no near the 50% that I had set in my tiny mind.  There was a none stitching day, and 8,232 stitches for this slot.

I have the Contemporary Cross Custard cream Dream on my frame, and will be wandering over there shortly to stat it (see previous post for details).

Under the current rotation C it should be Magic Mini Book for 14 day slot, but I have decided that it will be a addendum and has been allocated an initial 7 days, and will be coming out for a further 7 day allocation mid-December and over Christmas.  A new station schedule will be drawn up for January 2023 onwards with three #BAPs and three Minis, consisting four HAED and two Contemporary Cross.

It’s a nice day and I’m hoping that I can get away with not having to go in the garden, but this might be a bit of wishful thinking as the Brown bin is picked up tomorrow.

#398 - New and first ever start from Contemporary Cross

Charted by Contemporary Cross

www.contemporarycross.com

'Custard Cream Dream' Mini
Artist Alison Friend

Start Date:  20 November 2022

Size 200 x 276

55,200 stitches

84 colours

25 count

Tent Stitch  Full cross
(well, we shall see I try and rip them out and go full cross usually)
Start date:  20 November 2022.  Edited:  see post #400.  I am unable to do tent stitch and so this is full cross all the way baby!

My stitching code:  TOPIC

Inspiration for this piece:  My oldest child had a Guinea Pig called Topic, which was the exact colour of this little sweetie

I will happily tell anyone who asks that this PK compatible download was just an experiment to see how the processed worked, and differed, but we all know that would be less than the full truth ... I just could not help myself.

It was a useful exercise to find out like did it take it off my wish list automatically, and the answer to that was no but there was a red text question asking if it should be removed from the wish list that could be ticked, and it was then removed - I went from 19 wished for to 18.  I still need to remind myself that the 18 is just a goal and not just a firm target.  Fingers crossed that lovely family and friends will give me the cold hard cash for my birthday so I can get more!!!!  I love you all.

The current rotation is being paused and I will be adding TOPIC in for one week on Switch Out Sunday, and it will then hibernate until mid-December when I will have cogitated on the current rotation schedule and/or slotted this one in.  I'm considering going to 2 week rotation rather than the current 3, 2 and 1 week schedule in place.  This is because three weeks is a little too long for one project, and also that with Custard Cream Dream and the fact that there will be a further start on New Year's Day two weeks will be perfect. insomuch as there will be a quick turn around of the individual WIP in progress and that I intend to participate in Teresa Little Stitchre'rs New Year 2023 Fancy Lady SAL using Contemporary Cross Design Charm of Hummingbirds (which is an absolute whopper).

That will make 3 BAP full coverage, and 3 mini full coverage, which is in fact more than enough for any chick to do at any one time.  Good luck to the intrepid few who like a 50 or more full coverage on the go at any one time., and well done them.  God loves a trier.  Whilst I stand of the side of being a process stitcher, I cannot deny the thrill of the odd finish.  So, 6 will be it for WIPS and I only get to add in a mini if I finish a mini and a BAP if I finish a BAP.

Ideally, I would like to intersperse a BAP with a Mini, and am thinking that the 2023 order of rotation will be:

Alpaca - Aquarius - Patron Saint - Mini Book - Charm of Hummingbirds - Custard

I am stoked to start working on this one.

#397 - Now for somethig interesting and fresh

💓💓💓💓💓

Left without adult supervision, and unable to stitch I've watched an awful lot of YouTube ... and thank goodness.

A new channel to me (I cannot remember who gave me the recommendation), Kayli Tent Stitch had some amazing designs by a new company, Contemporary Cross.  Not only were the designs stunning, but the bonus of them being a UK company was also a welcome surprise.

It took me no longer than about five minutes to add 19 items to my Contemporary Cross Wish List

The prices are really reasonable, from between £10 for a mini to £15 for a standard larger design.  I believe that they also do special sizes or colour expansions by request.  Please check them out.

I had an interaction with Paula this morning on their chat feature, and she was super helpful.

Teresa Little Stitcher is running a Fancy Lady New Year New Start starting January 1st 2024, and call my stark staring bonkers, but I am thinking the 'Charm of Hummingbirds' behemoth at 560 x 800 stitches is front runner ... it is stunning, and the only reason stark staring mad is because of the size ot it .... most definitely not the beauty.

#396 - HAED Mini Aquarius Rising - 38.79% completed

... and Page 3 finished!!!!!

That is a further set of towers across the full width of pattern (lines 81 to 100)., and completes the first full row of pages - essentially one third of the pattern.

That’ll be the last page finish on this one for a bit because I work mostly concentrating on full width of pattern towers, although construction of those towers are in a Rebel Method, 😆

There is still just over a week left on the rotation, and as the right side of the next towers are no so confetti heavy, and the left side is partly stitched, I’m going to do my best to get after some decent progress, 40% at least completed.

#395 - HAED Mini Aquarius Rising - 36.94% completed

TAH DAHhhh ...page 2 is finished too - that’s just where the edge of the ruler is.

I still have over a week on this rotation slot, and feel sure there is another page finish in the near future, which will be awesome.

I popped into Heathfield Crafts to pick up another Fox needle threader (#389).

The bad news is that the Fox fell off of it, but the.good news is it does adhere to the needle minder. I’m pretty sure the Fox can be super-glued on again.  Now I have the Fox-free one on the rear of the work, and a smart new Fox on the front.

I don’t think that it was a shoddy product, it’s simply that. As a full coverage HAED stitcher,  the threader gets more than fair use day in and day out.  In my world function over form is the better option, plus it most definitely does not shred the floss, which the Hummingbird one did on a constant basis. So, with all things considered it’s a winner, winner, chicken dinner  ... no chicken have been harmed in the writing of this blog post!

#394 - HAED Mini Aquarius Rising - 35.67% completed

I managed to get 322 stitches on the pretty little minx today, and would have probably achieved a few more but we had a surprise visitor this afternoon.

Fingers crossed for inclement weather tomorrow so that I can get the chores out of the way and maybe get a decent session of stitching.  Although, she is a frustratingly slow stitch because of the confetti.

#393 - HAED Mini Aquarius Rising. - 34.13% completed

Page 1 is finished, and I’m loving the pot detail that is starting to appear.

I am hoping that I can work on Page 2 finish, and get it done by early next week ... we shall see.

We, or basically me, as nobody else in the house cares,  are anxiously waiting for the Clever Chef machine to finish cooking yoghurt.  Another four hours to go and four more in the refrigerator, and I will know if the machine was worth it just for the yoghurt machines.  Regardless, with sausage casserole and a yummy gammon already under my belt this week, it will be with it to get rid of the old fashioned (and years old) slow cooker.  The ng is I wish now that I had bought the more sophisticated model.  Muhhhh, I can still get one later next year and donate it somebody, or keep it as a back up.  I am going to bake a cake in it this weekend, and try some bread too.

She is so beautiful, but is a handful to stitch, so I’m pleased as punch to get another full width of pattern Towers done … lines 61 to 90.

A further full set of Towers will complete the whole full block of pages, and as I’m only 4 days into the slot, I’m pretty confident that I might get them done.

#391 HAED Mini Aquarius Rising - 32.32% completed

Sine having to go to Emergency Department on Saturday, I have only put in minimal stitches.  As I’ve slept most of the time since then, I am surprised I managed 352 stitches, but I did get some quiet time when my husband and youngest did the shopping tonight, and the pain I’ve been in has lessened a bit.

Hopefully, by tomorrow recovery should be well on the way, and although I will need to avoid chores, I should manage to stitch in short bursts.  That would be nice as I would under normal stitching conditions have completed the bottom towers across full width of pattern, so keep your fingers crossed.

Being poorly has left me in a weakened position, and even though I have reached stitching acquisitions far exceeding life expectancy, I have my eye on another HAED, so through pain fogged gaze I could well give in to my desperation to have it.
