#378 - HAED Mini Magic Book - 22.31% completed

Rotation B

Day 12/21

Minimal stitching today, most of which was done this morning.

I’m afraid that hot glue gun drastically held up play.  I couldn’t find my silicone finger guards and ended up getting a great glob on one index finger and whilst trying to remove it the other index finger was collateral damage.

Thus, it is deduced difficult to stitch!

#377 - Cardboard box …

What’s in the cardboard box - or what will it become?

A secret, but quick project.  It started  life as a little Kraft coloured tray box, that I grabbed when I was at the Garden Centre the other day having breakfast with the youngest kid.  This morning  I applied a coat of Black acrylic paint inside and out.

I can’t share the end product until Sunday, but will update you after that on the finished article, and also explain myself

#376 - HAED Mini Magic Book - 20.77% completed

Today has been one of self-care and so, I have lolled around and watched a couple of my favourite shows on TV (by choice I have a severely restricted list, none of which includes any mainstream media), and then spent a few hours listening to an audiobook and stitching.

It still gives me a thrill … and is why I stitch … that there can be a vague skeletal image forming, and in around 25 stitches it transforms before my eyes into a person or creature.  That feeling never gets old for me.

I’m going to prepare supper and carry on this evening, with the anticipation of how it will morph further.

#374 - My Rotation Schedule

Just as refresher, my HAED WIPs in play under the rotation, in no particular order.  Scroll down for details of my current Rotation Schedule.

I’ve just realised that I mention here and there what Rotation I’m on, but haven’t actually written it down anywhere but in my journal.

The OG Rotation was across 3 HAED WIPs, and then I realised that how it was set up there would only ever be traction on Alpaca for 21 days, and then Mini Aquarius Rising for 14 days and Mini Magic Book for 7 days, and then the same again.  I did not feel fair.

So, as I was desperate to start Patron Saint of Green Chilie, I added it in between Alpaca and Mini Aquarius Rising, and carried on the 21 day, 14 day and 7 day pattern.  For 9 repeats A to I.  That way they would all receive a “focus” 21 day slot etc:

Rotation A

21 days  -  Alpaca (AP)

14 days  -  Patron Saint of Green Chilie (CAT)

7 days    -  Mini Aquarius Rising (AQR)

Now completed.

Rotation B

21 days  -  Mini Magic Book (MB)

14 days  -  AP

7 days    -  CAT

Rotation C

21 days  -  AQR

14 days  -  MB

7 days    -  AP

Rotation D

21 days  -  CAT

14 days  -  AQR

7 days    -  MB

Rotation E

21 days  -  AP

14 days  -  CAT

7 days    -  AQR

Rotation F

21 days  -  MB

14 days  -  AP

7 days    -  CAT

Rotation G

21 days  -  AQR

14 days  -  MB

7 days    -  AP

Rotation H

21 days  -  CAT

14 days  -  AQR

7 days    -  MB

Rotation I

21 days  -  AP

14 days  -  CAT

7 days    -  AQR

I was then giving this some thought last night ... as I do ... and decided that as I is right near K for Kay, then I am going to add in J and K, which are just a bit different.  Pallet cleansers if you will.

Rotation J

14 days  -  AP

14 days   -  CAT

7 days     -  AQR

7 days     -   MB

Rotation K

My WIPs; My choice

Any which way I decide in a whole six weeks (42 days) across one or more projects.

Once I have worked through that lot, I will take stock and change around a bit.

#373 - HAED Mini Magic Book - 16.46% completed

I’m currently working on my Rotation B 21 day slot, and this little beauty is on my frame.

Last time you saw it on the blog was post #356, I believe the day before the rotation ended.  The percentage on the last day of the slot was 15.54%, and so I have made a bit of traction as of last night to get to 16.46%.  Obviously, there are still 19 days left, so I am hoping that I can at least achieve full width of pattern towers across the first (lines 1 to 20), if not a bit more besides.  However, this isn’t just Highway Men country, it is more like a whole continent of it.

I’m still working across towers left to right, and keeping to my strict Rebel runs, which is where there is the odd run downward of a string of stitches, but I don’t think going too mad is wise because of the possibility of going really, really wrong ... we all know by now I can’t count!

I have unfettered access to my Juki today, and I think I need to take advantage of that and finish off my other scroll bar bag.  The two separate sides and pieced, quilted and done, so I just need to attach the ribbon tie and sew them together.  Lu has been sewing costumes, in particular attaching industrial sized hook and loop tape, and reported that the needle was gummed up and needed changing, so I have just wiped it with acetate so it is good enough to sew the bag together.  That way he can change it later.

#372 - HAED Mini Aquarius Rising - 30.99% completed

Well, that’s the end of Rotation A 7 day slot, with a total of 1,992 stitches across the 7 days.

Happily, I reached the 30% mark, but it was a lean week with only a paltry amount of stitching for various reasons.

Hopefully the start of Rotation B will bode well for  more progress on the 21 day slot, which is Mini Magic Book.

#371 - finishing off

... the second scroll rod bag, and used some practice free motion for the label.

I decided to use free motion quilting on the bottom of the bag, instead of just the uneven matchstick I used on the first one.

As I’ve not done it for about five years, and never on my Juki, I used a piece of the brown floral and tried what I can only describe as a circle scribble, aka right old feckin mess.  Then pinked the edge, laid a piece of orange floral on the reverse pretty side down and free motioned round the edge - securing a piece of folded over bias binding at he top for a loop to attach the label and then pinked the backing.  It saves wasting it.

All I need to do now is finish off the bag, and add the ribbon ties, which shouldn’t take long.  However, I have been considering interfacing the main bag piece, which is not a problem other than I have to get up the enthusiasm to get it out, cut it count and iron it on ... first world problems!  I might use a promised Royal Stitcher live on YT as a carrot on my stick to get it done, Ali is going live at 3 p.m.

#369 - Unfettered access ...

...to my sewing machine yesterday, and a bit of spare time after some jobs in the garden, allowed me to finally make another much needed scroll bar bag.

I used some camper van fabric, which I picked up years ago from the Pumpkin Pat h in Heathfield, and then bright blue for the top tie section, and quilted the brown floral bottom section (for more padding).

The floral is such fantastic quality, plain on the wrong side.  I have a vague recollection it too came from the Pumpkin Patch, or the quilting shop at the rear of the Grand Hotel in Eastbourne, the name of which escapes me.

I have to admit that I measured nothing,  simply laying the fabric on the coffee table, and then the bars on top of that.  The camper van fabric has such an evenly printed design which allowed me to cut strait down without a ruler.  Then I offered up the blue and brown bits, and ripped it rather than cutting - seam allowance was just done by eye.

I managed to get two sets of the main camper fabric from the piece that I have ... a metre by the looks of it.

A scrap of left over batting, and my favourite wavy line matchstick for the quilted element.  A waste piece of black bias binding and Gold satin ribbon for the tie.  Gold ribbon for the tie and Snug brand seam binding tape on the inside.

It took about an hour all told yesterday afternoon to cut, quilt etc., and 10 minutes this morning to stitch the side seams this morning.  I just need to figure out how to attach a label with my code of the WIP inside.

I may do quilted top and bottom for the other back and front main fabric I cut out yesterday as younger child is working this evening, and my machine will be free again.

#368 - HAED Patron Saint of Green Chilie - 3.86% completed

That’s the end of the 14 day slot in Rotation A, and I achieved 12,058 stitches for the slot.

Switch out Sunday tomorrow, but I am winding up early this evening as I have youngest son’s hair to cut ready for an event.

Mini Aquarius Rising is up for the 7 day slot.

#367 - DMC storage bags

Oh my goodness, this Peter Rabbit fat quarter bundle is so stinking cute … that’s another seven floss bags done today, and about four yesterday.  I have nearly made all the bags for floss in the working set.

I need more of this fabric, just so I can make a quit for a toy rabbit.

#366 - HAED Patron Saint Of Green Chilie - 3.38% completed

Full width of pattern completed - lines 1 to 20 completed.  In #royalrows that is a full row of towers.

I have two more days left in this 14 day slot, and I hope to get close to 300,000 left to do - to get to sub 300k I would need to do 1,000 for each of the remaining days.  I know I may come close to that at least.

#365 - HAED Patron Saint of Green Chile - CAT - 2.05% completed

6,392 stitches so far.

I’m going to express the days in the 3 week (21 days), 2 week (14 days) and 1 week (7 days) as Dx / 21, or Dx / 14, or Dx / 7 … although it is as clear as mud to you all, but important for me to note !

#364 - HAED Patron Saint of Green Chilie - 1.42% completed - NEW START

I forgot to photograph the blank piece of fabric ... it is what it is!

Progress so far on day five of the rotation A two week slot, and I am two full #royalrows towers from the middle for diddle centre marker on the first row (lines 1 to 20).  With a two days of the first week, I am hopeful that if I can keep up the pace I should make full width of pattern by end of week two.
